We love our little Jurassic park.

Avian flu has made it to the Big Island and Aka'ula Farms is dedicated to the health and safety of our flock and yours. We are taking precautions and doing all we can to learn and educate for the sake of our community.

• While we do not typically bring in new birds to our flock, occasionally new genetics are needed. Any new birds go through a 30-day quarantine process. 
• All chicks we sell are also kept separated from our primary flocks and we will happily disclose if they have been hen or incubator hatched.
• We do not allow the general public around our main yard and coop areas. This is to prevent the accidental contamination of the areas around the farm.
• All feral chickens are detoured or eliminated.
• We have rodent traps placed around the property and checked regularly.  
• We will likely be implementing several wild bird deterrents as they are going to be the number one carrier in the future.
